The method of numerical flow simulation (CFD) enables a three-dimensional, patientspecific reconstruction of individual blood vessels. As a result of the simulation, surgical interventions can be examined with regard to their effects on blood flow and the vessel wall. Special calculation modules also allow the ASD to predict chemical and biological effects, such as drug delivery through the stent or thrombosis events and possible restenosis.
